Patching A (New) Left 4 Dead 2  And Playing It On Garena Guide


Chapter 1: Starting Your Left 4 Dead 2

Once You Get The Left 4 Dead 2 Downloaded Onto Your PC.
The now You need to do the following two Steps.

Step 1: Installing The Latest Version Patch.


First Start Your Game.
Go To Options > Keyboard/Mouse > Allow Developer Console > Enable It.










Now Press the "~" Button, To The Left Of The The Number 1 Button and Above the Tab Button.
and Type Version in the Console's Commands Field.




You will get something like this.

You will Need the latest version to play with others.
as of now the latest Version is 2.0.0.2






Make sure you Highlight "Left 4 Dead 2" Folder, then press Install Button
Installing The Standalone Patches The Same as The Version Update Patches.

Correct Patch Installation. Once You Open The Patch Version .exe, Make sure you highlight the "Left 4 Dead 2".
Here is a Detailed Example To Installing it in the Correct Folder Directory

Install PatchVersionName.exe to the Left 4 Dead 2 Folder Directory,
Depending on how you have your left 4 Dead 2 Folders, here's a Detailed Example.

----Left 4 Dead 2 Game//Left 4 Dead//----
Or
----Left 4 Dead Folder//Left 4 Dead 2//----

Or Simply ---Left 4 Dead 2--- Folder

Okay, now if you have your first main Folder as Left 4 Dead 2, and as you open that folder and inside that folder
is also "Left 4 Dead 2", then as you open that folder there will be many other folders as well as left4dead2,
and the "left4dead2.exe" down in the middle.

Now This is to be installed in the Main Left 4 Dead Folder, that contains the left4dead folder. and the "left4dead2.exe"
Such as Left 4 Dead 2 >//Highlight "Left 4 Dead 2"\\ < Within that folder. and then install.

Some people just has left 4 Dead 2 and as they open that, all the folders appears, along with left4dead2.
So just Highlight the "Left 4 Dead 2" Folder and Install.




Step 2: Installing The Standalone Patch
Now once done, Then last thing to do is Install this Standalone. And then it will ask you to type in your In-Game-Name.
Install the Standalone the same as the Versions Install

Standalone Allows you to play Left 4 Dead without Steam, it disable the Steam-Cloud. Steam errors such as "Steam is not running, you must be running steam in order to play this game" and "You do not have permissions to run this game."

So always remember to Install The Standalone Patch.





And now start your left4dead2.exe and enjoy, as of offline single player to test before you start playing with others on Garena.







Chapter 2: Playing Left 4 Dead 2 On Garena
Now to start playing on Garena, I'ts pretty simple and just a couple of steps.


Open Garena Cleint. Choose the Left 4 Dead 2 Tab. Then go to your country. And Choose a room with most people.
Now go to "Settings" Button. It's Above the "Send" Button in the chat room.





Set your Game Boot-Strap Paramaters as this "+sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0 +sv_lan 1"
And then set the Executable Settings And Browse to the left4dead2.exe and Press Open,And Then Press OK.





Now Press Start Game Button and if you see the "Friends Playing" List, click there and find a game to Join.









Chapter 3: Joining A Game On Garena


Press "Start Game" Button on the right side of the text field in the chat room.







Once you Game Starts Up, you will see the "Friends Playing" List at the bottom-left corner of the game menu.








Then here you can join the available servers.










Chapter 4: Hosting A Game On Garena

You can host you own map by entering the following commands in Console. On how To host your Own Server.


1: Open console. Type in console map and press space   and a list of map will come up. So let's go with The First Map.






Example: map c1m1_hotel

But you would also want to choose a game type mode and a difficulty level.
Such as map "map name" then " coop, survival and versus"

And the difficulty level for your game
z_difficulty easy, normal, hard, and impossible

"hard and impossible are as Advanced And Expert"

and then you give your server a name
hostname "YourServerName"



Then you can do these following commands in the Console. "hostname "MyServer"; map c1m1_hotel coop; z_difficulty normal"



And press the Submit Button.




Once you game is done loading and game starts Open Console and type "net_status"




and you will get this

You will see Net status for host 192.168.29.28
To get your friends to join your server that is the ip you give him, but also other players will see your game listed in the game servers list.
